Hyderabad all set to host first Test match between India and New Zealand

Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium at Uppal is all set to host the first Test match between India and New Zealand starting on August 23. The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) is making all the efforts necessary to have a smooth Test match, this will be the first Test match under new guidelines of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, says a report in The DNA.

The new guidelines say that any loss of play time during the day would be compensated by playing under floodlights. The HCA is looking to sell 34,000 tickets for a ground which has a capacity of 40,000 people.

The New Zealand team will reach Hyderabad, the venue for the first Test match on August 17, the Test match is scheduled to be played from August 23 to 27, says a report in Business Standard.

About the Telangana agitation, the Secretary of Hyderabad Cricket Association, M V Sridhar said, “This is a national event, cutting across any regional likes and dislikes. Since it is a Test match being hosted by Hyderabad on behalf of BCCI and international teams coming, we appeal to everyone to make it a grand success. It is a question of the city Hyderabad that is going to be on the world map.”
