Indian football coach Wim Koevermans ahead of the Nehru Cup said that he is satisfied with the team’s preparatory camp, says a report in The Hindu.
Koevermans said, “I’m very pleased with the team and the camp. We’ve worked on a few aspects, and I’ve become comfortable with the players.”
Koevermans emphasized on the importance of ball possession, he said, “It isn’t just possession, it is also about defending well when you do not have the ball. Many other things have to come together as well to perform as a team.”
Meanwhile, Indian football captain Sunil Chhetri said that it was a wonderful experience to be at the Portuguese club, says a report in Deccan Herald.
“It has been a wonderful experience, its been just 28 days, playing at such a top level has opened up my mind. My mentality towards the way I look at football has changed completely”, said Chhetri.
On India being ranked 168th in the world, Chhetri said, “I do not believe that we are 168th in the world. We are a much better side than that, we need to play more matches against bigger teams only then can we gain more points and improve our ranking.”
On the upcoming Nehru Cup, Chheti said, “Cameroon and Syria are very good sides, Nepal and Maldives are no pushovers either and we’re there, so its going to be a tough tournament.”
