Indian Hockey Team ended their London Olympics preparation on a rather disappointing note after they lost to 1-2 against Spain in the last match of the Tri Nation invitational tournament at Santander on Wednesday.
A report in DNA says that India go into the Olympics with four defeats on the trot, a factor that is likely to have a psychological impact ahead of their opening match of the Olympics against the Netherlands on July 30. India had earlier lost to Great Britain, Spain and South Africa. Their exposure tour ended, during which they played a total of eight matches, ended with only three wins – two against a lowly France and one against South Africa.
A report in The Times of India says that India finished last in the tournament which was won by Great Britain. India went into the match against Spain winless and the first half saw both the teams locked 0-0. But then Spain soon took the lead in the second half after David Allegre scored through a penalty corner. Miquel Dalas doubled the lead in the with another penalty corner in the 61st minutes while India reduced the disparity in the 64th minute after VR Raghunath converted a short corner.
