India ‘A’ coach Lalchand Rajput said that their recently concluded tour in West Indies has not been a case of missed opportunities as thought by others and also that Cheteswar Pujara has the ability to replace Rahul Dravid in the side.
Talking to DNA, he said “Overall, it was a tough tour and a learning process. It’s good Indian cricket has so much variety to choose from. West Indies have always been tough. I don’t think they have missed the opportunity. It wasn’t easy for us. Yes, we had a very good team, hence people’s expectations were really high. Overall, we only lost the ‘Test’ series but levelled the one-day and T20 series. The last match one-dayer could not take place, otherwise we’d have won it and clinched the one day series.”
Talking about Cheteswar Pujara he said, “He is sincere and really hardworking just like Dravid. He wants to keep batting and work on his weaknesses. There are a lot of similarities between him and Dravid. Like Dravid, Pujara hates to give away his wicket. His positive approach and attitude will definitely take him miles.”
