A report in The Hindustan Times writes says that American Serena Williams has powered her way to fifth Wimbledon singles title after she beat Agnieszka Radwasnka 6-1, 7-6, 6-2 on Saturday. The 30 year old who was playing in her 7th Wimbledon final, blew her opponent off court in the first set, then after a short rain interruption lost the second but then came back strongly in the final set before sealing the affair.
After a hitting a back hand winner, which saw her 14th grand slam singles title, Serena collapsed backwards to her ground before climbing through the crowd to her hug her father and rest of the group.
Meanwhile The Times of India writes that, Serena Williams swung through her back hand in classic fashion, outclassing Radwanska to close out the 122 minute final battle. It was Serena’s 5th Wimbledon titles and 14th Grand Slam title and her first slam victory in two years after serious injury and major illness threatened to finish her career.
Mail Today says that Serena who raced to her 5th Wimbledon singles title after she beat Agnieszka Radwanska to win 6- 1, 5- 7, 6- 2 of Poland now sees her as the first woman over 30 to win a grand slam title after Martina Navratilova in 1990 and to do so she brought to play all her experience gathered over the years. The win now sees Serena equaling her sister Venus’ tally of five Wimbledon title and her last grand slam victory came here at the same place in 2010.
