The Times of India writes that Board of Cricket Control Indian punished five tainted Indian cricketers T P Sudhindra, Shalabh Srivastava, Amit Yadav, Mohnish Mishra and Abhinav Bali after they were caught in a sting operation conducted by a TV channel agreeing to either spot fixing or accepting “under the table” payments from the franchisees and agreeing to move to other teams for more money.
The report says BCCI has been particularly harsh on Sudhindra of Madhya Pradesh who also plays for Deccan Chargers in the IPL as he received a lifetime ban, which means that he would not be able to play in any cricket conducted by the BCCI, the International Cricket Council (ICC) or any of their affiliated units ever again.
The Hindu writes that while Sudhindra was banned for lifetime, Shalabh Srivastava of Uttar Pradesh who plays for Kings XI Punjab was handed a five year ban for agreeing to fix a match and negotiating with reporters involved in the sting operation.
The reports also says that other three involved in the row Mohnish Mishra, Amit Yadav and Abhinav Bali were handed a year one ban.
Meanwhile the Hindustan Times writes that Sudhindra who was handed a life ban by the BCCI is contemplating to seek legal help. “I will takes necessary steps on getting proper legal advice,” he was quoted in the report.
