Star Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh who is recovering from his illness had his first significant net session at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore, says a report in The Hindu.
Yuvraj after his net session said that it was a big achievement to get into the nets and the feeling was really good. Yuvraj in the session batted for around 30 minutes against NCA’s under-19 bowlers. The hard hitting batsman restrained from hitting big shots and practiced his defensive strokes. He later turned his arm over for a couple of over.
Yuvraj admitted that he was tired after the first 15 minutes but hoped that his body will hold better as after each passing day. He is confident that with time his body will get better with time and he is looking to have match practice pretty soon.
Meanwhile, Indian women’s team captain Mithali Raj has said that her team would look to emulate what the male side did in 2007, by winning the Twenty20 World Cup to be held in Sri Lanka in September-October, says a report in The Hindustan Times.
Raj said that her team is confident going into the tournament because the Sri Lankan condition will work in their favor. She said that it will be great if both the men’s and the women team win the T20 World Cup.
She said that there is a new look to the team and all the players have got good match practice and are raring to go.
A report in The Times of India says that former England captain and legendary commentator Tony Greig has urged the Indian cricket board to accept the fact that "spirit of cricket is more important than generating billions of dollars.
Greig according to the TOI report said Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) controls the game and it controls enough votes to block any proposal put forward at the ICC board meetings.
