Explosive Indian batsman Virat Kohli stayed mum over the Test captaincy debate that has been surrounding Indian cricket off late. Kohli came out in defence of the present Indian captain MS Dhoni saying that he has done a commendable job for the team and he has never done badly serving as a captain, says a report in The Indian Express.
Kohli added that captaincy is not something which he should be concerned about as there is a complete selection committee that looks into the matter. Kohli who missed out on a opportunity to get nominated for the prestigious Arjuna Award said that he never played for awards or rankings. He said that he is very happy with the amount of progress that he has made.
Kohli who in the recent past said that Indian captain MS Dhoni has advised him to stay calm and try not to cross the line too much said that it is not about trying to change the style of batting, it is about what you can learn from someone, says a report in The Times of India.
Kohli also ridiculed the opinion that his Delhi teammate Gautam Gambhir might only be a suitable captain for India in Test matches, saying that Gambhir has done well for India in all three formats and he knows how to change gears for different formats.
Meanwhile, a report in The DNA says that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is not going to any show cause notice to former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik. Malik appeared for a club level match in New Delhi and that raised a debate.
PCB board official said that they have not issued any notice to him and they will not do that in the future as well, the official said that Malik was on a private visit to India and he just played in a club cricket match.
