Harbhajan Singh, captain of the Mumbai Indians said that some poor shot selection by Mumbai Indians batsmen was the reason his team lost to Delhi Daredevils. Harbhajan said that some of the top order batsmen played some poor shots and that was the reason why Mumbai could only score 92 runs, reports The Indian Express.
Harbhajan said that his team lost the match in the first six overs of their innings as they lost too many wickets up-front. Harbhajan was the only man who had substantial runs against his name, said that both the openers failed and the team lost wickets at regular intervals.
Even the likes of Rohit Sharma and Dinesh Karthik played bad shots which cost them their wickets.
Mumbai’s batting looked in disarray and missed Sachin Tendulkar as he would have stopped them from playing the way their batsmen played, reports The Times of India.
The Mumbai batsmen tried to hit every second ball out of the ground on a pitch where the ball was not coming on to the bat and that resulted for their downfall. None of the Mumbai batsmen put their head down and tried to play a long innings.
Mumbai team would have really done well if they had another 25 runs but, that was never to be as some rash strokes saw Mumbai not even reaching the 100 mark.
Mumbai set a target of 92 runs which was surpassed by Delhi Daredevils without breaking a sweat. Harbhajan Singh in the post match press conference said that it is very difficult to come back in the game after a team has a lost two wickets for 20 odd runs in the first six over, reports Hindustan Times.
Harbhajan said that the batsmen were not able to rotate the strike and gave away their wickets easily. Mumbai after the 3.1 over mark lost two wickets and had only five runs on the board.
More than half their side was back in the pavilion at the half way stage and there was no coming back for the home team.
