Granit Xhaka is the only big signing of Arsenal in this transfer window. Even the fans have started to express their frustration over lack of signings compared to their rivals. But, Petr Cech thinks otherwise. The Czech international showed his support for his manager’s decision.
According to media reports, he said, “I think you need to be buying players you need. You need to buy players that will improve the team and not just for buying. That's the philosophy of the club. I've been here since last season and you can see that every time we bring in a player, it's a player we need and the manager believes he improves the team. There is a core of the players who have been at Arsenal for years, and they know that is an advantage as well. People get to know each other, how to play together. (Xhaka) had been brilliant with Basel, he had been brilliant with Gladbach, so we bought a complete player who definitely improves our squad, and hopefully he will prove that on the pitch.”
The Gunners have only signed two more players apart from Xhaka. Takumo Asano, a 21-year-old striker from Japan and defender Rob Holding. Arsenal had even approached Leicester City to buy Jamie Vardy but the striker decided to stay with the Foxes. Reportedly the Gunners are also interested in another Leicester City player, Riyadh Mahrez. He reportedly even declined a new contract with the Foxes.
