Wigan: A goal by Shaun Maloney just after the half time helped Wigan pull up an upset victory over the league leaders Manchester United at an English Premier League matchup on Wednesday. Wigan won 1-0 to cut United’s over Manchester City at the top of the table by five points.

The loss saw the champions crashing to their first loss this season since a 3-0 defeat at the hands of new Castle in January.

United who have five matches left in this season and their lead getting cut short by five now, the deciding match can be very well happen on April 29th when they take on City in the Etihad Stadium.

Wigan’s win over United has now seen them taking a stride towards avoiding relegation and this was their first victory over the league leaders in 14 matches.
