Subroto Cup International Football Tournament: BKSP girls thump Pravara Kanya, sound a warning

Maharashtra Bangladesh SUBROTO CUPNew Delhi, October 1:After what the Bangladesh KridaShikshaProtisthan (BKSP) boys did, winning the Sub-Junior Boys title, it seems to be the turn of BKSP girls to do an encore as they humbled Pravara Kanya Vidya Mandir Ahmednagar (Maharashtra) 11-0 in the Junior Girls (under-17) in a pool match in the 57th Subroto Cup International Football Tournament at the Dr. Ambedkar Stadium here today.
In a morning match, the BKSP girls showcased their prowess in a more authentic way although the strong victory came against a team that didn’t showany gumption to withstand the Dhaka girls’ onslaught.Sajeda did the star turn for the winners with four strikes while Akhi (2), Sita, Sabina (2), and Ritu swelled their tally even as the Ahmednagar girls brought upon them further misery by adding a self-goal by S.R. Kole to complete the rout.
In another match, SAI East from Kolkata beat AtulVidyalaya from Valsad (Gujarat) 17-0 in a woefully one-sided league game at NWC grounds.  SoniBehera, who scored eight goals, including two hat-tricks, was the star player for the SAI squad even as healthy contributions came from SushmitaDalei (2), SasmitaMaharana(3), Suman Mohapatra, Asha Kumari, Subhadra Nayak and Priya.
It was pathetic from the point of view of the team from Gujarat which was at the receiving end not knowing what to do as they did not have the standards of competing in a tournament of this stature despite qualification.
In comparison, Hazaribagh High School (Jharkhand) and RSKV East Vinod Nagar (Delhi) was somewhat better with the Jharkhand girls winning 4-0at NWC grounds.  Sandhya Kachaap began scoring for HazaribaghSchool in the third minute and it took them another 26 minutes to add to the tallywhenShitalToppo struck. After change of ends, MamtaKumari (44) and AsritaToppo (46) scored for a comfortable win.
In the fourth match this morning, Chandigarh’s DAV School (Sec 8C) defeated Telangana State Sports School from Hakimpet 7-1. Anju (3), Mamata (2) and Promila and Poonam scored once each. The consolation goal for the Telangana outfit came when R.  Ravali struck in the 13th minute.
