Brilliant century by Abhishek Sharma in 6th All India U-19 Dhruv Pandove Trophy

cricket bat ballChandigarh/Mohali/Patiala: The 6th All India U-19 Dhruv Pandove Trophy got off to a wet start with delayed matches at Chandigarh, Ropar, Patiala and Mohali. 

Hosts Punjab taking on Himachal Pradesh scored 308 in 87.4 overs. They were helped in their cause by a brilliant century by all rounder Abhishek Sharma who hit a punishing (118) off 134 balls spiked with 10 rousing boundaries and 7 huge sixes.

He was complimented by Prabhsimran Singh (35) Shubman Gill (40) Nipun Pandita unbeaten (50) and Mayank Markande (24). Prabhsimran Singh and Shubman Gill put on 45 runs for the first wicket while Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill had a useful partnership of 53 for the 3rd wicket and for the 5th wicket it was 54 runs partnership between Abhishek Sharma and Akul Pandove.

Abhishek Sharma then in partnership with Mayank Sidhu added 72 runs for the 6th wicket while Nipun Pandita and Mayank Markande cobbled up a 57 runs partnership for the 8th wicket. For Himachal Kapil Dev 4 for 50, Anshukul Thakur 4 for 100 and Rajen Rana 2 for 43 shared the spoils.

Replying Himachal were in dire straits as they plunged to 31 for 3 in 10 overs as close of first days play. Midium Pacer Rishab Bhagat cleaned up opener Mohd. Asalam Khan for 05 and trapped R.Kashyap in front before the batsman could open his account. Nipun Pandita from the other end trapped Digvijay Singh for 06.

In the 2nd match played at IS Bindra Stadium PCA, Mohali, Mumbai winning the toss and opting to field dismissed Madhya Pradesh for 161 in 78.,3 overs. Rishab Choubey 25, Rahul Chandrol 47 , Mann Dubey 29, and Rahul Batham unbeaten 26 contributed to MP’s total. For Mumbai Siddharth Singh 3 for 51, Shivaji Yadav 2 for 25 and Wasim Sheikh 2 for 17 shared the spoils.

Replying Mumbai were 9 for 1 in 3 overs at close of Day-1 play.

The 3rd match played at Sector 16 Stadium between Bengal and Odisha, Odisha won the toss and opted to bat and were 128 for 3 in 55 overs at close of 1st days play. Akash Nayak unbeaten 54 and Saurab Raut unbeaten 42 were together at close of play. For Bengal Pradipta Pramanik 2 for 36 was the most successful bowler.

The 4th match played at Government College Ropar, Baroda winning the toss and electing to bat were 42 for 2 in 13.1 overs before play was called off due to heavy rain. Jyotsnil singh was unbeaten on 33 while left arm spinner Parth Rekede 2 for 5 was the most successful bowler for Vidarbha.
