Mirpur: Terming it to be a disappointing performance from his team, Indian skipper MS Dhoni gave all credit to Bangladesh for outplaying India in both batting and bowling in the first ODI of the three-match series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium here on Thursday.
“Yes it was disappointing, but Bangladesh played some really good cricket as a team. They took our bowlers right from the first ball. Initially it looked as if they would score more than 330, but we restricted them to 300. However, our batting didn't turn up the way we wanted it to,” said Dhoni, stating that India’s spinners bowled well.
“But I am disappointed with the way the fast bowlers bowled. The Bangladesh batsmen played the fast bowlers well. We will go to the drawing board and sketch out a new plan to see what is the best way to beat Bangladesh,” said Dhoni.
Ecstatic about the win, Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza said he was delighted with this victory. “Could not have asked for more. Mustafizur was not a surprise for us. We know he can destroy any batsman. It was a brilliant start from Tamim and Samya. We lost a bit of momentum with the rain, but Rahman and Shakib did it for us. Yes it was a bit of a risk to play four fast bowlers, but I trusted my boys. Maybe we were 15-20 short, but 300 is a big ask for anybody,” said Mortaza.
Man-of-the-moment Mustafizur Rahman said, "I wanted to perform well on debut. I know only a few have taken five on debut, but all I wanted was to do well against India.”
