Mumbai Indians still hopeful to play in the playoffs

mirohitsharmaplaystofineleg-26Delhi Daredevils won the toss and decided to field first in a pitch which looked good for batting right from the outset. Mumbai Indians capitalized on the early initiative as Lendl Simmons and Michael Hussey again took them off to a flier as the pair put on a 87 run first wicket stand which came in just 8 overs. Simmons departed on that score as Imran Tahir struck with the ball in hand and gave Delhi a glimmer of hope of restricting the opposition to a chaseable target.

Hussey continued the onslaught and soon brough up his fifty and in just 28 balls as the Mumbai Indians were cruising to a score well excess of 180 but Unadkat came back into the attack and had put the brakes on the scoring on the scoring by picking up a couple of wickets. Rohit Sharma and Kieron Pollard perished in an attempt to up the ante and Mumbai Indians could only manage 173 runs in their allotted 20 overs.

Delhi Daredevils have had a season they would like to forget and this match was no different. Chasing a target of 174 runs Delhi had to get off to a good start which they failed to do and kept on losing wickets at regular intervals which never really gave them any chance of winning the match. At the end of the match Delhi felt short by 15 runs which kept the Mumbai Indians alive in the tournament. J P Duminy remained unbeaten for 45 who was also the top scorer for Delhi. M De Lange was the pick of the bowlers who picked up two wickets by giving away 32 runs in his 4 overs.
