New Delhi: Powered by a half century (59 off 38 balls) from Dwayne Smith and 35 off 31 balls from Sachin Tendulkar at the top, Mumbai Indians beat Trinidad and Tobago by six wickets to enter the final of Champions League T20 final here on Saturday. Mumbai will now meet Rajasthan Royals in the summit clash.
Chasing a winning target of 154 runs, Mumbai won the match with five balls remaining. Mumbai Indians were off to a great start as Smith and Tendulkar started the chase cautiously and added 90 runs for the opening wicket in 11 overs before Tendulkar was caught by Dinesh Ramdin off Simmons. In the process, the Master Blaster also reached the the lanmark of completely 50,000 runs in all formats of the game.
There was some jittery moments in the Mumbai camp as after Sachin's departure, the team lost Ambati Rayudu (0) and Smith in quick succession, leaving Mumbai three down on 96. However, skipper Rohit Sharma and Dinesh Karthik made sure that they steered their team out of trouble as the duo added 42 runs in the next 36 balls before Sharma was outdone by Sunil Narine for 25.
Thereafter, Karthik took the attack back to the opposition and alonwith Keiron Pollard helped his team reach the target with five balls remaining.
Earlier, Lewis hit a quick-fire half century while Yannick Ottley struck a fine unbeaten 41 as Trinidad and Tobago posted a competitive 153 for five. Lewis struck a 46-ball 62, innings that was studded with four sixes and six fours, while Ottley's 30-ball 41 was decorated with two sixes and an equal number of fours.
