Bangalore: Riding on a suberb half-century from skipper Yuvraj Singh (52), followed some fantastic batting from their top order, including Robin Uthappa (35), Unmukt Chand (45) and KD Jadhav (42), India A first posted a massive total of 214 runs, and later Rahul Sharma bowled brilliantly to take five wickets and helped his team beat West Indies A by 93 runs in the T20 match played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore on Saturday.
After India decided to bat on winning the toss, they did well score 214 for seven against the Windies, who bowled as many as 15 wides. Facing a huge target, the Windies lost wickets in regular intervals and were bundled out for 121 in 16.2 overs with leg-spinner Rahul Sharma claiming five for 23.
India got off to a solid start as openers Robin Uthappa (35) and Unmukt Chand (42) smashed 74 runs in 6.4 overs. Thereafter, skipper Yuvraj Singh (52) and Kedar Jadhav (42) added a further 80 runs for the fourth wicket to put India in driver's seat.
For West Indies, Andre Russell's took a hat-trick when he took four wickets off his first four deliveries in the 19th over, but it came too late in the innings.
Though the visitors started off well, hitting Yusuf Pathan for 19 runs in the very first over, the pressure of chasing the mammoth total took its toll as they started losing wicket at regular intervals. Rahul Sharma picked up his first five-for in T20s to wrap up the game in just 16.2 overs.
