Mohali: A brilliant half-century (57 off 32 balls) by Thisara Perera helped Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Trinidad and Tobago by four wickets and three balls remaining in the Champions League T20 match at PCA Stadium, Mohali on Tuesday.
Chasing a target of 160 runs, Sunrisers were off to a decent start before Parthiv Patel (17) fell at a score of 35. Sunrisers soon lost the wicket of skipper Shikhar Dhawan (23) on 45. JP Duminy (17) and H Vihari (13) too could not contribute much as the Hyderabd team was reduced to 95 for four in 13.1 overs.
Thereafter, Perera and Sammy forged in an able partnership for the fifth wicket and added 49 runs before Sammy was caught by Badree off Sunil Narine. Ashish Reddy too followed Sammy on the very next ball but Perera kept his cool and steered his team to victory with three balls remaining.
Earlier, riding on a fatntastic half-century (66 off 44 balls) from Dwayne Bravo, T&T managed to set a formidable target of 160 runs before the Sunrisers. Lewis (22), Mohammad (19) and Ramadin (21) were the other contributors for T&T.
For Sunrisers, Darren Sammy was the most successful bowler with a figure of 2 for 21 in four overs.
