Have wonderful memories with Kings XI: Gilly

gilchristcelebrates thevictoryDharamsala: Legendary Australian wicket-keeper-batsman Adam Gilchrist bid adieu to Indian Premier League after Kings XI Punjab’s final match of IPL 6 against Mumbai Indians which they won by 50 runs. And what a fantastic way to finish off his IPL career as apart from winning the game, Gilchrist also took a wicket off the only ball that he bowled in his career.

Happy with the win and the wicket that he took when he got Harbhajan caught by Gurkeerat, Gilchrist said in a lighter vein, “Harbhajan took my wicket many many times in my career. So I just wanted to mimic the reaction.”

Talking about his IPL career, Gilchrist said that he has some very wonderful memories of Kings XI and IPL. “We really very well received by this fabulous crowd. Eight wins and eight losses, that sums up our cricket in the last three years. It will be interesting to see how careers go over the next few years. I will be happy to watch now and be entertained. I have some wonderful memories with Kings XI," said Gilchrist.

Meanwhile, Azhar Mahmood who was Man of the Match, said, “No.3 is a good number to bat on. Durind bowling, I used the slower balls a lot. This man-of-the-match award is for my daughters,” said Mahmood, adding that he was quite fortunate to play under Gilchrist.

Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma said, "We didn't start off well. I thought it was chaseable target. We kept losing wickets and it became very difficult to come back. Plan was to see off the first 4-5 overs but we failed. We got to leave the negatives out and need to regroup quickly."
