New Delhi: Team India cricket skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, with earnings of USD 31.5 million, has been ranked at 16th on the Forbes' list of highest-paid athletes, which has been topped by golfer Tiger Woods. Tennis ace Roger Federer ranks second on our list with earnings of $71.5 million.
Kobe Bryant is third with an income of $61.9 million over the past 12 months. He had the highest salary in the NBA for the third straight year during the 2012-13 season.
Meanwhile the 31-year-old Dhoni moved up 15 positions this year. In 2012, he was placed at 31st position.
The influential business magazine estimated that Dhoni made USD 31.5 million over the last year from prize money and endorsements.
The only other India in top 100 is Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar who is placed at 51st position with an estimated earnings of $ 22 million.
Meanwhile, Forbes estimates that Woods pulled in $78.1 million over the last year from prize money, endorsements, appearance fees and golf course design work. His resurgence on the links boosted his prize money over the last 12 months to $13.1 million, double his total from the prior year. He now has 78 career PGA Tour wins, only four short of the all-time record held by Sam Snead.
This year's 100-strong list features just three women led by Tennis ace Maria Sharapova, who ranks No 22 with earnings of USD 29 million.
Sharapova is joined by No 68 Serena Williams, who raked in USD 20.5 million, including USD 8.5 million in prize money, while China's Li Na ranks 85th overall with earnings of USD 18.2 million.
