Mohali: Some superlative batting from David Miller and Mandeep Singh helped Kings XI Punjab beat Pune Warriors by seven-wicket in a thriller at PCA Stadium on Sunday. Ecstatic about the win in the high-scoring match, Miller credited Mandeep Singh for taking them home.
Miller, who was given the Man-of-the-Match award for his scintillating 80 runs off 41 balls said, "Mandeep played an unbelievable knock, going right through the innings. We tried to play each ball on its merit. We tried to give ourselves a chance in the end. It probably is the best I have batted in a T20 game."
Meanwhile Mandeep Singh said that it was quite an amazing feeling. "It's amazing. We have been waiting for this win. We did not bat well through the tournament. Miller took the pressure off me. I was rotating the strike well and he was hitting the loose balls. I have been preparing for long and wanted to play the full 20 overs. Want to dedicate this to my grandma who passed away two months back," said Mandeep.
Kings XI skipper Adam Gilchrist said that it was a difficult toss to win. "Difficult decision at the toss as looked like a beautiful wicket. It was a great chase. You are dealing with small boundaries on one side and big on the other. So you are trying to balance it out. Manan Vohra played an important little innings there," said Gilchrist.
Meanwhile Pune Warriors skipper Aaron Finch too hailed the knocks from Miller and Mandeep. "Brilliant knocks from Miller and Mandeep. We had a pretty competitive total. It was just one of those games where it is a couple of inches here and there. Took a gamble bowling Dinda in the 19th over to try and seal it there but you have guys who can hit it out any time," said Finch.
