Indian win was always on the cards: Gavaskar

Sunil-GavaskarNew Delhi: Little Master, Sunil Gavaskar feels that Australian team is inexperienced rather than a weak. However Gavaskar said this would a great learning curve for the new Australian team as they would be playing in the Ashes this summer where they might face the spin duo of Graeme Swann and Monty Panesar who were incredible on Indian wickets.

Australian new ball bowlers had put some great fight from the very first Test and this will help them in long-run. Gavaskar added, "Weakest I wouldn't say so, but inexperienced yes. Perhaps this is the most inexperienced Australian team to have come to India. It is the inexperience which is going against them. Moreover, I don't think we should be looking at whether this was the weakest or the strongest Australian team. A win is a win just like a 100 is a 100," he told to NDTV News Channel.

“You can't pick the opposition team, you have got to play what the opposition fields and that's what the Indians have done. Balance never weighed in Aussies favour in this Test, so question of them pulling a draw is just out of context. Indian players have tonnes of experience of playing T20 where they can pull off as many as 12-15 runs in an over. So Indian win was always on the cards, maybe they did well in the last 15 overs but Dhoni smashed three consecutive boundaries to seal the fate of series.”

Gavaskar praised MS Dhoni and his men for continuing their dominance in the Third Test and I hope they will clean sweep the Aussies in this series. “This is the first time that Australia has been defeated for three times in a row and that calls for a celebration.”
