New Delhi: Indian pacer Praveen Kumar has been reported for offensive behaviour during a corporate trophy match between ONGC and Income Tax played on February 4. Kumar has been charged with Level 2 and Level 4 offences and the match referee in his report has even gone to the extent of saying that he is ‘mentally unstable and unfit’ for playing cricket.
According to media reports, Praveen has been charged of "abusing, seriously showing offensive and insulting gestures against Income Tax batsman Ajit Argal in over No 48.1," by the match referee Dhananjay Kumar Singh. Singh in his report has said Kumar loses his cool at the slightest provocation and is abusive, not only towards the opposition but also his own team mates.
If Level 4 charge is proved then Praveen might face ban from cricket for quite a sometime. Matter has been brought in to the notice of BCCI who will take some necessary action if the pacer is found guilty.
The fast bowler, who last played for India during the Asia Cup in March 2012, has been out of international action due to a chest injury. He was India’s best bowler on the 2011 tour to England where Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s team were whitewashed 0-4.
