Parvez Rasool wants to play in IPL and for India

parvez-rasoolChennai: Parvez Rasool heralded his entry on to the big stage by his seven wicket haul that helped Board President XI dismiss Australia for 241in a warm-up game on Tuesday. Ecstatic about his performance, the Jammu and Kashmir all-rounder is high on confidence and says if given a chance, he can do well at any stage.

Thanking the almighty for the seven wickets that he took against the Aussies, Parvez said, "I also thank the selectors to have given me this opportunity. To do well against Aussies is a great achievement for me and by God’s grace if I get more chances, I'll look to do my best."

Parvez also showed a desire to play in IPL this year. "I haven't signed for an IPL team yet but hopefully if that happens I can do well and maybe play for India too," said 23-year-old Rasool, who recently became first cricketer from the Kashmir Valley to be picked for India 'A' team for a warm-up game against England.

Happy of being able to deceive the Australian Test players Matthew Wade and Steven Smith with his flight, Parvez said, "Flight is my strength. The dismissals of Smith and Wade brought me a lot of happiness as I was able to deceive them in the flight," he said, thanking his coach of his formative years.

"My coach from Brijbehara in the Anantnag district, Abdul Qayyum, has played an important role in my career and I learnt the game from him before I played junior cricket or my state."

Rasool also credited former India captain and left-arm spinner Bishen Singh Bedi for his success. "I have to credit him for all the success I have achieved as a bowler. He always advised me to not be afraid of tossing the ball up to look for wickets. He has helped me a lot in using the flight of the ball as my weapon," he said.
