Kochi: Despite beating India in the Tests and taking a 1-0 lead in the five-match ODI series, England is in no mood to take the 2011 World Champions lightly. According to England skipper Alastair Cook, if they desire to beat Dhoni and his men in this series, then his team will have to keep performing to their best.
Describing the win at Rajkot to be a great start to the series, Cook said that it was an important game to win. “Hopefully, we can keep up the standard of our performances and win the upcoming game," he said, stating that India are a world-class team and it’s hard to beat India at their home.
"But we're prepared for that. We will have to keep up our skills and our standard of performances, if we want to win this game and the series," Cook added.
Cook backed his pace bowlers, Steven Finn and Jade Dernbach, who gave too many runs at Rajkot, saying that the wicket in the first match was hard to bowl on. "he outfield too was quick. It was probably one of the fastest wicket I've played. There was no margin for error. It was easy for batsmen,” said Cook.
The England skipper also said that he expected spin duo Root and James Tredwell to do the job for him in the ODIs just like what Monty Panesar and Graeme Swann did for the side in the Test series.
