Mumbai: India’s highest wicket-taker, Anil Kumble, is back in news and as always for a good reason. He is now appointed as the Chief Mentor of IPL team Mumbai Indians (MI) owned by Neeta Ambani and Mukesh Ambani. Kumble’s assignment as mentor of MI will start with IPL 6 this year.
Kumble will replace South-African pacer Shaun Pollock, who has been in this role from past four seasons. Kumble has worked for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on same position for the past three years and difference can be very well spotted in the RCB.
Kumble said, “Mumbai Indians are a very competitive team and they have done really very well in the past three seasons and it is my honor to be its Chief-Mentor”.
Meanwhile RCB said on Monday, “Anil has been a great as captain, chief mentor and advisor. He helped shape the entire team and was instrumental in creating a unique sense of passion and commitment and this is a consensual decision that has been taken after considering various aspects.”
Apart from this, Mumbai Indians owner has decided to make few changes to their previous year squad. They have already shown the doors to their middle-order batsman T.Suman who played just two games in the last season and didn’t do well and Harbhajan Singh is most probably to be replaced by Rohit Sharma as captain of Mumbai Indians.
