Rohtak: A fine batting performance from young Unmukt Chand saved the day for Delhi as they scored 165/6 at the end of the second day’s play against Haryana in a Group B Ranji Trophy match being played at Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium, Rohtak. Delhi are still trailing by 142 runs and only have four wickets in hand.
Earlier in the day, Haryana started their innings at 219/6 at crease were Rahul Dalal (42*) and Jayant Yadav (3*). Haryana lost their seventh wicket very early in the morning when Dalal was caught in front of the wicket. A solid contribution from number ten batsman Harshal Patel (39*) took the home team past the 300 run-mark. For Delhi, Parvinder Awana picked five wickets.
Delhi in reply, got off to a horrendous start as they lost their two opening wickets with only 16 runs on board. Chand was batting well but kept losing partners at the other end. Mithun Manhas (20), Vaibhav Rawal (15) and Rajat Bhatia (21) all got starts but couldn’t capitalize.
Chand was unbeaten on 76 at the end of the day and a lot will depend on him.
