Dhoni blames spinners for loss against England

Dhoni blames spinners for loss against EnglandMumbai: Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s wish to play on rank turner back-fired and India suffered a humiliating 10-wicket defeat at the hands of England at Wankhede here today. With Dhoni getting a dose of his own medicine, he said that his spinners could bowl at the right pace and failed to exploit the conditions well.

"Definitely outplayed. Monty bowled really well. All get turn, but the pace he bowled at made sure that the batsmen were on the front foot. To some extent, yes I am disappointed with our spinners. We let England bat on the back foot. We could have brought them forward," Dhoni said during the presentation ceremony.

"All of a sudden they have to change their plan. Ahmedabad was completely different and it was a change of conditions," he added.

With the series levelled 1-1, Dhoni said that it will be a real test for them in the next match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

"When two best sides are playing, series are close. It will be a test of character in the two coming games," he said.

Meanwhile Alastair Cook happy with the dominating win said, “Without a doubt, it is a great win. I can't fault the effort of the lads. I could have called heads and obviously it was an important toss. The way we bowled on that first day it was fantastic.”

Praising the architects of the win, Cook said, "You don't need to tell KP anything and it was great to watch from the other end. Credit to the way Graeme Swann and Monty bowled. Brilliant performance. It's been interesting two weeks and we have seen both ends of the spectrum.”
