Delhi launch fight-back, Baroda in controlNew Delhi: After staying down in the match for two days, Delhi launched a fight-back on the third day in their Group B Ranji Trophy match against Baroda on Monday.

Delhi in reply to Baroda’s mammoth 500 plus first innings score started well with skipper Shikhar Dhawan getting off to an aggressive start. He scored 30 off 33 deliveries including four boundaries and put up an opening stand of 38 runs with Unmukt Chand.

Dhawan’s wicket brought Mohit Sharma brought Chand to the crease. Both the batsmen played well and launched a fight-back.

Chand was out scoring a brilliant 51 off 110 balls including six boundaries.

Sharma then joined forces with the experienced Mithun Manhas and they put up a partnership of 78 runs before Sharma was out for 71 off 154 deliveries. His knock was laced with seven fours.

Delhi were 215-3 at stumps with Manhas unbeaten on 41 and Rajat Bhatia on 10.

Earlier Baroda who started the day at 525-7 with overnight batsmen Ketan Panchal on 72 and Gagandeep Singh on 70 could not last long as they were bundled out for 561.

Panchal was out for 80 and his innings was laced with eight fours and three sixes, while Singh too hit eight boundaries and three sixes in his innings of 76.

For Delhi Parwinder Awana was the pick of the bowler with 4-104, while Bhatia chipped in with 3-35.
