It will only be fair to say that the Indian team is not leaving anything for chance for the upcoming four match Test series against England. All the top Indian players apart from captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni are playing for their respective states in the Ranji opener starting today.
It was not too long ago when England embarrassed India by winning all the matches in the four match Test series. India on that tour could not manage to win a single game and it turned out to be one of the worst tour for the sub-continent giants in the history.
Indian players have made it clear that they will like to return the favor and would want to make things difficult for the Englishmen. Not playing a single specialist spinner in the match against England XI made the intentions clear.
Now, today most of the star players who will play in the Test match against England will be in action. Indian openers, Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag who have been struggling off-late will be in action for Delhi against UP in Ghaziabad. This match is very important for the two as India would not want their openers to walk into the first match with no runs behind their back. A big innings can do wonders for the two.
Another Test batsman who will be in action in this match is Virat Kohli, he has been in incredible form and will be looking to play a big knock here.
Sachin Tendulkar and Zaheer Khan will also be in action playing for Mumbai against Railways. Sachin has been horribly out of form and will be looking to make a mark here. Sachin is playing a Ranji match after a long time and the main reason for that is that the master would want to be in run-scoring form before he takes on the English bowlers.
For Zaheer Khan it will be the matter of testing his fitness more than anything else. Zaheer walked out in the first Test match in the series against England because of injury and he won’t like that to happen again. Zaheer is crucial for the Indian team and he would like to get his rhythm back.
Other Indian players like, Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, R Ashwin, Pragyan Ojha will all be in action.
