Yuvraj is the best judge of his fitness: Dhoni

m-s-dhoniNew Delhi: Expressing concerns over Yuvraj Singh fitness for the longer version of the game, Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni said he is not sure whether the left-hander is ready for Test matches.

Dhoni said that it was difficult for him to comment on Yuvraj’s fitness. “Test cricket have its own uncertainties unlike ODIs or T20s. In ODIs one is sure that he needs to be in the field for 50 overs but in Test matches a team can bat to one to two days. We will have to assess whether Yuvraj is ready to field for two days. But at the end of the day Yuvraj is the best judge about how he is feeling. He has played well in domestic circuit and it is up to him to reflect on his game,” said the Indian skipper.

Meanwhile the Indian skipper said that he was satisfied by the way his team was playing in the shorter formats and said that the team would improve with time in five-day cricket. “The Indian team might look the weakest on papers and it is a different looking team after the retirement of Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman. Dhoni said that the team is slowly growing in confidence and it will improve with time,” he said.

India in the next few months will face some stern challenge from England, Pakistan and Australia, on that Dhoni said that the team is really looking forward to the coming series. He said that the players need to be fit for the busy time ahead.

Indian players like Virat Kohli and Harbhajan Singh have earlier said that they would like to see turning tracks for the series against England and Dhoni backed his teammates.

Dhoni said that it has been a long time since he has seen spinners dominating a Test match and would like to see that happening against England. He said that there is no definition for sporting pitches as one will see turning tracks in sub-continent.
