Johannesburg: Chennai Super Kings beat defending champions Mumbai Indians by six runs to register their first win in the ongoing Champions League Twenty20.
CSK captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni after the win said, “We should have got 15 runs more keeping in mind the position we were in, but the Mumbai Indians’ bowler got stuck into our batsmen and made the task difficult for us.”
On bowling Jadeja in the last over, he said, “It was important to guide Jadeja in the final over, he has the ability to bowl the final over but the conditions were difficult here. The ball was not sticking on to the wicket and was coming nicely onto the bat. He responded well to the challenge.”
On his seamers who did a tremendous job, Dhoni said, “We started very well, Ben Hilfenhaus bowled brilliantly and was supported well by Doug Bollinger and Albie Morkel.”
Harbhajan Singh whose team is yet to win a match in this tournament said, “We bowled well after the first ten over, CSK got off to a flier and their batsmen really played well in the first six overs. While chasing, Karthik and Pollard batted brilliantly in the last 8-9 overs. It was a good game but it would have been better if we would have won.”
On his team, Harbhajan said, “I am proud of my boys, we played well in this match.”
Man of the match Ben Hilfenhaus said, “I was under pressure in the penultimate over, I tried something different and I am happy that it worked. Overall, we wanted to hit the deck hard and that’s what we did. Both Doug and Albie supported me well.”
