Kumble to head ICC Technical CommitteeNew Delhi: Legendary Indian spinner Anil Kumble has replaced former West Indies skipper Clive Llyod as the cheif of the ICC Cricket Committee. 

ICC's decision to appoint former Indian skipper Kumblw was supported unanimously and reports suggests that Kumble has been a two years term by the governing body of Cricket.

Meanwhile Ian Bishop who did not wish to seek an extension was replaced by former England skipper Andrew Strauss, while Mark Taylor and David Kendix have been granted extension.

Pleased with Kumble’s appointment, ICCI Alan Issac said, “In Anil Kumble, we have a new chairman who has unquestioned experience not only as a player with India but also as an administrator with Karnataka State Cricket Association as well.”

The former Indian skipper who heads BCCI Technical Committee as is India’s most successful Kumble and has taken 619 wickets in 132 Test and 337 wickets in 271 ODIs wickets during his 18-year international career.

"I am sure that he (Kumble) will carry on Clive's good work and bring, like Andrew Strauss, contemporary thinking to the committee and both understand clearly the issues facing the modern game," Alan said through a statement.

"I would like to thank Clive Lloyd for his chairmanship of the ICC Cricket Committee and to his tireless contribution to the game. The ICC Board were united in their admiration for his work as chairman. We also thank Ian Bishop for his contribution during his term as well," added Isaac.

Meanwhile even Rajiv Shukla, senior BCCI official welcomed the move to appoint Kumble to the job and said, "I think this is a very big responsibility. I think he is also capable of this. He will play a very important role. He will address all the problems. There is a need to bring change in world cricket, not only in Indian cricket."
