There are lot of areas we have to improve on: Dhoni

We won but there are lots of areas where we need to improve: MS DhoniColombo: India defeated Afghanistan by 23 runs in their opening match of the ICC T20 World Cup, but the Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni isn’t satisfied with the way his team went about their business. Dhoni in the post match presentation ceremony said winning is always good but it wasn’t a great performance by the Indian team in any way.

“This format balances both teams. If one of the opposition batsman or bowler has a great day, it could change the result. We won and every win is good. It was a good start but not a great performance from us. To be honest, there are a lot of areas we have to improve on,” said Dhoni, adding that Yuvraj Singh did his job as the part-time bowler.

“People talk a lot about five bowlers, but what matters is on the day how they bowl, whether they are a part-timer or a specialist," said Dhoni.

Meanwhile Virat Kohli, who got the man-of-the-match award, said that it was always good start on a winning note. "It’s always good to get a start, good to start on a winning note. But to be honest, it’s always tough to play against a team which has nothing to lose. They were in a situation where they could try a lot of things. We had to be more careful,” said Virat.

Nawroz Mangal, the losing captain, said that it was a good game for the boys. “We could have done better. Our shot selection poor and that’s why we have lost the game. We could have done better in the field. But we are satisfied that we restricted the mighty Indian batting to 160," he said.
