Townsville, Australia: An unbeaten 112 from 127 by skipper Unmukt Chand helped Indian under -19 team defeat Australia by seven wickets to win the quadrangular series here on Sunday.
Winning the toss and electing to bowl first, India did not allow Australian batsmen to settle and restricted them for 194/9 in fifty overs. Wrecker in chief for India was seamer Sandeep Sharma and Harmeet Singh who scalped four for 51 and two for 33 respectively.
In reply India raced to target with more than six overs remaining and seven wickets to spare. Chand who played throughout the innings hit nine fours and half a dozen sixes for his match winning knock of 112. Apart from Unmukt , Akshdeep Nath remained unbeaten 25(53 balls) and Manan Vohra scored 23 (24 balls, 2 fours).
For Australia Meyrick Buchanan and Sam Hain showed some grit as they scored 59 (68 balls, 6 fours, 2 sixes) and 41 (87 balls) respectively.
