Chandigarh: Aadil Bedi carded seven-under-281 to win the Northern India Golf Championship at Golden Green Golf Course, Gurgaon on Friday.
The Chandigarh lad, a student of class 10th at Vivek High School, came out with victorious with a thumping margin of 10 shots over Manav Bias of Delhi. Aadil shot 70, 65, 76 and 70 with a total 281 with 18 birdies over four days, with seven-under being the best on day 2 that was also a course record for the amateurs. It was almost a one-sided match with no competition.
Aadil said, “It was tough condition at the link golf course with cold and foggy days. The tee offs were delayed almost all the days. But the course was playing very beautifully. Since last 12 rounds, I have been able to shoot under pars quite consistently. My work with coach Jesse Grewal and with my new mentor Bob Byman from USA is helping me a lot.”
“With this win in Northern India Win I have moved to No. 2 position in Indian Golf Union national merit list of A category with 340 points,” he said.
Now Aadil has two win and four podiums from seven matches he has played so far in the domestic golf circuit. Aadil was also the youngest to make cut at PGTI events. He also bagged silver medal in World Cup at Las Vegas in July 2016.
Aadil said, “I am going to give tough fight in All India final going to held next week at ITC Classic Golf Club, Gurgaon. All India merit list of A category will be finalised after the next match which is All India Final, after taking best eight matches of one calendar year.”
