Pune, November 4: Tejas Kusale of Kolhapur won the ISSF men’s skeet gold medal with a score of 97 as the shotgun events of the 41st Maharashtra State Shooting Championship 2026 came to an end on Wednesday.

The competition was held at the shotgun range of the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi-Mhalunge. Kusale’s win kept up the success Kolhapur’s shooters had already enjoyed in the trap events earlier in the week.

Two-man skeet field

The final day had two categories, ISSF Skeet Men and ISSF Skeet Masters. In the men’s event Kusale’s only opponent was fellow Kolhapur shooter Ulhas Sahasrabuddhe, who scored 49.

Sahasrabuddhe also took part in the masters category with Vivek Tiwari. Sahasrabuddhe again scored 49 and Tiwari 39, but no medals were awarded because neither shooter reached the Minimum Qualification Score (MQS).

Trap and skeet medallists honoured

The championship closed with a prize distribution ceremony at which medals were presented to the trap medallists and the skeet winners. Maharashtra Rifle Association president Ashok Pandit and general secretary Shiela Kanungo attended.

The Maharashtra team for the national shotgun championship will be selected from the medal winners at this event. The championship was organised by the Maharashtra Rifle Association and hosted by the Pune Shooting Sports Association.

Earlier in the championship, Abhishek Patil and Samarjit Ingle shot 24 out of 25 on the second day of the trap competition.
