New Delhi, 16 October 2026: Jasprit Bumrah has returned to India’s Test squad for the two-match series in New Zealand, after missing the team’s last World Test Championship assignment against Sri Lanka.

Bumrah was originally named in the squad for the Sri Lanka series but was later withdrawn. His return comes with India fifth in the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 standings, and with conditions in New Zealand expected to offer pace and bounce.

The selectors also named two squads for the five-match ODI series that comes before the Tests.

Pace attack

Bumrah will lead a seam group that includes Mohammed Siraj, Anshul Kamboj, Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna and all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy.

Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar are the spin-bowling all-rounders, and left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav is also in the squad. Kuldeep played the first Test against Sri Lanka but was left out of the second after an ordinary outing.

Pant included, subject to fitness

Rishabh Pant has been named subject to fitness clearance. He missed the India ‘A’ tour of New Zealand because of an injury picked up in the Irani Trophy. Dhruv Jurel is the second wicketkeeper.
