Gurugram, 9 October 2026: Anish Bhujle and Vikas Mahajan won their categories at the BMW Golf Cup 2026 national final and will represent India at the BMW Golf Cup World Final in South Africa in March 2027.

The final of the 16th edition of the amateur tournament was played at DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurugram.

Anish Bhujle from Mumbai won Category A, which is for players with handicaps up to 12. Vikas Mahajan from Moradabad won Category B, for handicaps from 13 to 28. The pair will make up Team India at the World Final and compete against the leading amateur golfers from the other participating countries.

2,300 players, 40 finalists

This year’s edition drew 2,300 amateur golfers. Forty of them qualified for the national final through regional tournaments in Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Vadodara, Jaipur, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Patna, Kolkata and Gurugram.

The winners of each handicap category at the regional events went through to the national final. The winners of the two categories at the national final earn the places at the World Final.

Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO of BMW Group India, congratulated the winners.

“The BMW Golf Cup is more than a celebration of sporting excellence, it is a powerful expression of performance, passion and the strength of the BMW community,” he said. “This year, the tournament reached a new milestone, bringing together 2,300 amateur golfers from across India, with 40 exceptional players advancing to the national final.

“I congratulate our winners on this outstanding achievement. As they step onto the global stage to represent India at the World Final, they carry the pride and support of the entire BMW community.”

About the BMW Golf Cup

The BMW Golf Cup is one of the largest amateur golf series in the world. It began about 25 years ago as the BMW Invitation Tournament in the United Kingdom, ran there on its own for five years and then went international.

The series now has around 1,000 qualifying tournaments involving 100,000 players in up to 40 countries. The best players from each country qualify for the World Final, where individual titles are decided in three categories.

In India, the 2026 edition was played in two categories: A, for handicaps up to 12, and B, for handicaps from 13 to 28.

Customers on the course

Brar said the tournament was part of the company’s wider effort to bring its customers together. “Through distinctive experiences such as the BMW Golf Cup, we continue to bring our customers together and create memorable moments that reflect the spirit of BMW,” he said.

The 2026 India season started with regional rounds in 13 cities. From the 2,300 who entered, Bhujle and Mahajan are the two who go forward, and they will travel to South Africa as Team India in March 2027.
