London: Parupalli Kashyap’s inspirational run came to an end as he went down fighting to world number two Lee Chong Wei in a close fought quarterfinals in the men’s singles event at the London Olympics.
The score line of 21-19 21-11 in favor of the Malaysian does not do justice to the way Kashyap fought his way against one of the best shuttler in the world.
Kashyap with his tremendous smashes took the early lead in the first game with the score reading 11-8 in favor of the Indian. But the second seeded Malaysian came back to level the score at 15 all and won the first game by a little margin.
Chong Wei started the second game with a flurry of smashes to take the 11-6 lead. He forced Kashyap to take the risks and that led to the unforced errors from the Indian.
