London: India suffered a major blow as the seventh seeded pair of Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna lost their second round match against Richard Gasquet and Julien Benneteau of France 3-6, 4-6 in straight sets.
Bhupathi-Bopanna  was involved in a massive controversy as both ofthem rejected to pair  with India’s number one player, Leander Paes. Both players insisted on  playing together and got their way after weeks of drama. 
The  Indian pair looked out of sorts as they lost the opening set in  39minutes. They did come back strongly in the second set winning the  first three games. But gave away the lead when there serve was broken in  the fourth game.
The Indian duo committed as many as 37 unforced errors and that in the end proved fatal.
