Valencia: Illness has ruled Marussia driver Timo Glock out of the Formula One European Grand Prix here Sunday.
The intestine infection kept the German racer out of qualifying Saturday, and he will return to his home in Switzerland.
"The Marussia F1 Team can confirm that Timo is unable to compete in today's race," the team said.
"Timo received medical guidance yesterday afternoon and his symptoms suggest that he is suffering from an intestinal infection."
"He has been advised that it would be unwise for him to race given the severity of the complaint and that he should focus instead on recuperating."
Despite missing qualifying, Glock would have been able to race if cleared by the event's chief medical officer.
Glock has recorded three podium finishes during his six seasons in Formula One, all of them while driving for Toyota.
His best result for the Russian-owned Marussia team is 14th place at this season's Australian and Monaco Grand Prix. (IANS)
