We should have scored more goals: Michael Nobbs

New Delhi: Though India defeated France 6-2 in the Olympic Qualifier and maintained their position at the top of the points table, the team was not able to satisfy their coach Michael Nobbs.

“The result proves that we played well. Still there are some areas that we have to work on. We committed far too many unforced errors and we have to work on that. Tonight we scored six goals but we should have scored more goals, we missed a lot of goal scoring opportunities”, said Nobbs.

Indian vice-captain Sardar Singh said, “We let France score two goals, we believe that we could have stopped them. From the next match we will try not to repeat the mistakes that we committed here.”

Indian striker Shivendra Singh who was involved in four goals said, “I am very happy with my performance. We are playing well as a team; we are scoring goals and will look to do the same throughout the tournament.”

On his coaching Nobbs said, “It’s only been six months that I have been associated with this team. India has taught the rest of the world how to play hockey. I can promise you that in the next 18 months we will be a sensational team.”
