Sehwag likely to lead India against Sri Lanka

Brisbane: Virender Sehwag is all set to take over Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s position when they take the fiery Sri Lanka head on in the tri-series match late tomorrow.

Though the team management has not yet declared the news officially, but going by the current state of affairs there is a high probability of Sehwag leading the men in blue, along with Parthiv Patel as the wicket keeper in the game.

Dhoni was suspended as this was India’s second minor over rate offence after they were fined for slow over rate in 2011. Dhoni has also been fined 40 percent of his match fee whereas the team was handed a 20 percent cut in the match fee.

The ban was handed to him by the match referee Andy Pycroft after the on field umpires Billy Bowden and Steve Davies along with third and the fourth umpire Bruce Oxenford and Paul Reiffel was reported the matter to Andy.

Virender Sehwag had to stand in as captain in place of Dhoni in the fourth test against Australia in Adelaide.
