India will be a tough team to beat: Brasa

New Delhi: Indian women team already has a touch challenge in the form of South Africa in the upcoming Olympic Qualifiers and there are reasons that the journey will not be easier against other teams as well. India will play their first match against Ukraine which can surprise the hosts though they are behind the hosts in the rankings.

Ukraine has a familiar face in the form of Jose Brasa who is not new to Indian Hockey. He knows everything about the turf, the atmosphere that his team will have to face this Saturday.

“Indian team has been playing well and it will be a challenge for us to stop them. I know the kind of hockey Indian likes to play, but at the end of the day its how we play on the field is that what matters”, said Brasa.

He added, “We are here to make our mark at the international circuit, let’s see how it goes.”

India, on the other hand has some worries ahead of their first match with their most experienced player Subhadra Pradhan struggling with a knee injury.

“She had a knee injury which she has been carrying from last year; she had a treatment in Malaysia and is given two intra-articular injections in 15 days and she has responded well to the treatment. Her condition is improving and hopefully she will be fit for the entire the tournament”, said Satbir Singh, team doctor
