New Delhi: Indian Coach Michael Nobbs is confident in India doing well in the upcoming Olympic qualifiers. Indians will play their first match against Singapore on Feb. 18 at the National Stadium.
“The team is looking fitter than ever. Italy, France and Poland are the teams to watch out as they are very unpredictable. It’s not that we will take any team easy, want to win all the matches”, said Michael Nobbs, Indian coach.
He added, “There are some new things that we are going to try during the qualifiers. Experimenting with the penalty corners is the thing that we want to do as we cannot be predictable.”
S K Uthappa and Kothajit Singh are the new faces in the Indian team.
“It’s a great opportunity for us. Playing in such a big event is a huge opportunity for me. I can’t say for others but I am very excited”, said S K Uthappa.
One of the veterans Ignace Tirkey said, “It’s our responsibility as the senior players to take the team forward. We have a good variety of seniors and youngsters. Senior players like me have to ensure that the youngsters play their game and not worry about other things.”
