Pattaya: Sania Mirza lost to Su-Wei Hsieh of China 5-7, 3-6 in the singles quarterfinal of Pattaya Open on Friday. She however continued her good run in the doubles format. The Indo-Australian pair of Mirza and Anastasia Rodionova defeated Varatchaya and Varunya Wongteanchai 6-4, 6-3. With their win they have moved to the semifinals of the championship.
They now face third seeds Akgul Amanmuradova of Uzbekistan and Kimiko Date-Krumm of Japan. Earlier, the top-seeded pair in the tournament, routed the French pair of Iryna Bremond and Caroline 6-0, 6-2 in the first round.
