New Delhi: Shiva Keshavan, current Asian Champion and speed record holder, received the NDTV Sporting Excellence Award on February 5.
The Award Ceremony was the Grand Finale of the 'Marks for Sports - Fit India Campaign'. This is a year-long nationwide fitness program brought together by NDTV and Nirmal Lifestyle and supported by the Sports Minister Ajay Maken, and actor Ranbir Kapoor as their brand ambassador.
Along with Shiva, the other awardees in various categories included Leander Paes, Vijender Singh, Mary Kom, Rahul Bose. Milind Soman and Bipasha Basu among others.
Shiva is now on a 2-year training programme towards his 5th Olympic participation in the Olympic Games to be held in Sochi, Russia in 2014. He is approximately 6/10ths of a second behind the current World Champion, and is aiming to bridge this gap through a structured training programme.
