Melbourne: Sania Mirza and Elena Vesnina of Russia cruised in the second round of the Australian Open after defeating Eleni Daniilidou of Greece and Alexandra Panova of Russia in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2. The Indo-Russian pair only lost two games in the entire match which lasted for only 50 minutes.
The couple won a total number of 54 points compared to the 26 points that the opponents registered. They will now face Eva Birnerova from Czech Republic and Alberta Brianti from Italy in the second round of the tournament.
Mirza and Vesnina capitalised on 6 break points out of the total of 8 that they got in the match.
