Kolkata: Delhi golfer Vani Kapoor sizzled today, winning her second consecutive title in the second leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2014. The Delhi golfer capitalizing on her overnight lead returned with a total score of 213 (70,72,71) at the Tollygunje Golf club, Kolkata to consolidate her position at the top of the money list for 2014. Trailing Vani by seven shots was veteran golfer Smriti Mehra who finished as the runners up carding a total of 220 (75,74,71) after the final round’s play.
Vani who carded one over 71 in the final round had two bogeys on the 5th and 12th holes and a double bogey on the 10th hole. She also carded three birdies on the 6th, 11th and 13th holes. Smriti Mehra who finished as the runners up carded a total of three bogeys on the 5th, 6th and 18th holes along with two birdies on the 7th and 16th holes.
Pune’s Shweta Galande (76, 74, 72), Vaishavi Sinha (74, 76, 72) from Noida and local girl Neha Tripathi (74, 77, 71) finished tied third with identical scores of 222 after 54 holes. Shweta’s scorecard included three bogeys on the 1st, 9th and 17th holes along with a lone birdie on the 16th hole. Vaishavi however started of brilliantly with two birdies to her credit in the front nine on the 3rd and 9th holes. She could not however maintain the same form in the back nine and conceded four bogeys on the 10th, 12th, 17th and 18th holes. Local girl Neha Tripathi had three birdies on the 5th, 8th and 15th holes along with two bogeys on the 12th and 18th holes. Her scorecard also included a double bogey on the 16th hole.
Delhi’s Ankita Tiwana finished sixth with a total of 226, while Vandana Agarwal and Priya Puri were tied for the seventh place with identical scores of 230 after the final round.
The Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2014 will now move to the Willingdon Sports Club, Mumbai for the third leg to be played from the 19th – 21st of February 2014.
